Anything beauty or hygiene related gets me excited. My Mom was always keen about Anti-Aging skin care. She had me wearing eye cream by the time I was 18. She always told me not to get sunburned, so I wore SPF 50 from there-on-out and I still do. I apply eye cream every night before bed. Well thank you Mom! For being 34 I think my skin looks great.
ABOUT THAT COCONUT OIL...
We've been hearing some pretty good things about Coconut Oil and I have joined the trend. I've been using it for several months now and have had zero negative reaction. It's all natural it's an antibiotic, it's antibacterial, and it's antivirus. You can cook with it, put it on your skin, in you're hair, you can use it for pretty much anything. I started using it on my dogs skin irritations and it seems to calm the area and begin the healing process. Coconut oil is also natural so my dog isn't getting any chemicals or possibly ingesting something that's not natural by another cream that may have been prescribed. My cousin uses in on her skin to keep her skin clear. My other friend uses it in in her hair and on her skin. Nothing but good things thus far!
I've also been using this oil to cook or add to warm rice. I had stopped cooking with oil because I didn't want the oil cooked so after doing a little research I now use coconut oil to saute my veggies. If the heat is medium to low then coconut oil is still beneficial. I cut about 1/2 C. mushrooms and pour them in a small pot with heated water. I let them get warm and add the coconut oil when the mushrooms are warm and saturated in the water.

It sure is! It's been approximately six months and there is one thing after another. I need to continue sticking to my diet for a few more months. Most of my recipes can be found on my Instagram page from salads, to guacamole, and side dishes, garbanzo beans, quinoa, and many other plant based options. There are many benefits to eating healthy such as less trips to the doctors, more energy, healthy blood levels and blood vessels, as well as clear skin, and an increase in serotonin (since 70% of serotonin is made in your gut). Serotonin is the main ingredient in today's antidepressants but by changing the way we eat we can naturally give ourselves that.
As for the type of food, I try to stick to organic options because of less pesticides and cleaner water that is used to grow the crops. There have been some scary videos out there about 'nerve gas' being used as a pesticide in our crops; which was what the Nazi's used to in the gas chambers. Scary stuff! And not to mention our waste water being used to water our crops. Oh my! I would suggest supporting the organic industry so we can put these guys out of business and protect our health. Organic may be a bit pricier but if you pay for health care, then essentially by not eating organic you may just have to pay a much higher price when it comes to your health. Spend it on food or healthcare? Which one is more expensive?

Not a fan of salads? Too boring for ya?
Well they don't have to be! I've been making salads consistently EVERY DAY for the past six months. I'm doing an intra-cellular cleanse which is the reason for this Salad Frenzy. But Boy can I make them exciting, salads will never be boring again.
One thing we can start by doing, to make preparation a little easier, is to make a list of all fruits and veggies. My list contains of Dr. Sebi's Food List. Which can be found by clicking this LINK. (scroll all the way down for the food list ;) This particular food list, tips the Alkaline scale and will clean your organs, your blood, harmonize your hormones, get rid of bacteria and mucus buildup in your body. It will also prevent you from getting sick since you're getting all the antioxidants, Vitamin C, and minerals that your body is originally made of. Our gut is a big producer of serotonin, about 70%, so if you're sad, depressed, have anxiety or mood disorders, it's very important to clean your colon and eat healthy. It changed me. I changed my lifestyle completely, stopped drinking coffee, stopped drinking alcohol, and I started going to church. Sound drastic? It was! A good friend of mine referred me to Dr. Sebi's grandson who was my motivator during all of this. I didn't think I could do it after day two. He encouraged me to stay focused.
Six months later I have never felt better. It was just what I needed. With so much SALAD EVERY DAY I became creative. And I'm so much happier with my life. It really changed me for the better and I now have clarity about everything in my life. Took about five months into this cleanse to realize that. My mental fog is gone. Here are my tips on how to prepare and make a healthy, BOMB tasting salad. One that Wont' be boring. Hooray!

My schedule has been hectic lately and I originally created this blog to share about health related topics and what we can eat or do during our day that is going to benefit our lifestyle choices. I may not post here as often as I like but I'm aiming for more. This is more of a 'fun' 'giving back' idea that I wanted to do. This Blog gave me another purpose in life. I don't have too many ads on here maybe just three or four. I'm actually just focused on sharing my experience and coping with the hard times by writing. I love reading and I've always loved writing.
Before starting this Blog I experienced some heavy heartache within my family. My mom is her own unique and beautiful person, inside and out. We had a mother-daughter relationship for 30 years. There were good days and there were bad days. It's not a black and white story and my family dynamics have changed. It made me stronger because of it. We question ourselves how we could have done things differently and made things better after the fact? ... and now it's too late. My parents did their best to stay together and ultimately their love just dwindled away, which led to a divorce. Mainly because my brother has taken complete control over my mom and put himself in the middle of my parents fiasco, he was never grateful or thankful for anything. I just turned 34 and I haven't been able to communicate with her since I was 30. It was very heartbreaking for me to lose my mother. She is here on Earth yet I can't have a relationship with her.
Eventually my mom cut off all communication with me, thinking that I was choosing sides between her and my Dad. I don't blame her because my brother is the one who made her believe this. It took me three years to finally accept it and I miss her dearly and I wish I can help her. Shortly after she stopped communication with me. I experienced a death of a close family member, and then three months after that a death of a close friend. My support system left me dry and I didn't know who I can turn to. My Dad of course but then again he's not a woman. After this dark and gloomy period, I began to question my life and my purpose here on Earth. I was extremely depressed (medically) and although no one in my family knew, I just cried a lot when I was alone; Every day. I never gave up on exercising cause it made me feel better. I adopted my dog, Rocco, and I look at it as we both saved each other. I needed a companion... AND THIS is where my Blog came into place.
With that said this past year I rekindled my faith with God and accepted Jesus in my heart. I prayed everyday sometimes a few times a day. I asked for God's help, for my strength in my emotions, and for his healing power to uplift me and make be believe he was by-my-side. I began listening to Christian talk radio, Christian music, attending church on a weekly basis and I noticed opportunities arising in my favor, and I started to see the proof. The proof of the Holy Spirit and how he WAS there with me. He never left me, he just waited for me to come to him.
This led me to confide in a friend that I knew was a firm believer in the Messiah, and she led me to a healer who heals from within. I was also 'gifted' with a virus that is incurable in the Doctors world but I knew there was a cure. I'm healing naturally by following a strict food plan, and providing the herbs and seeds that God created on this Earth. So for the past six months I have been on a strict PLANT-BASED ROUTINE. I CUT OUT ALL CAFFEINE, ALCOHOL, MEAT, AND DAIRY. It was hell during the first week not going to lie. This man is also a believer in God and has helped me to stay focused. "Stay focused Shelly, you need to stay focused." And so I did.
After four months of nourishing my body with the natural minerals and herbs and veggies and fruits from our Earth, I noticed a change in my way of thinking. I noticed my depression going away, I noticed my love for others increasing, my love for God increasing. And then I began to realize certain people who were a part of my life that WEREN'T helping me, they weren't supporting me, or offering me a solution to my problems. But rather what can I do for them. I was a giver. So much so it broke me down because I didn't receive anything in return. I eliminated and/or avoided these people. Not only is he curing me of my virus, this food plan has cured my depression, it has uplifted my spirits and I finally feel that God is blessing me and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I can't thank him enough!
Almost six months later I am now on an ALKALINE PLANT BASED DIET. Doing an intra-cellular cleanse bringing my body back to a homeostasis state. I am no longer depressed and I've never been this happy. I'm focused, I have mental clarity, and I know what makes me happy and what doesn't. I'm not the type of person to give up, I'm the type to find a cure, to find help. For myself and for my family. It is our personal choice after all to know ourselves well enough on how we can HEAL from within.
I've heard too much caffeine is bad for you, then its good for you. Of course everything in moderation. The rule of thumb is no more than 2 cups a day. They say successful business people stay away from having too much caffeine since it initiates the fight and flight response, causing us to react more aggressively. Is that true? So if we are a boss of many people does that mean we should drink less coffee?
This is what I think about coffee after hearing everything that's out there. It's good to drink after a night of alcoholic beverages. It can either cure a headache or possibly make it worse. It can cure a headache if we are having withdrawal symptoms. I can attest to that! Caffeine turns parts of our brain black, and have also heard other claims backing that up. Of course this means we would have to drink over the normal amount. A cup of coffee can make us more alert, think straighter, and give us some good natural energy. I used to drink a Red Bull before taking an exam in college. I know that's a little extreme but it did wonders for my alertness and results. Coffee and tea fight cancer, it lowers our cholesterol, it prevents Parkinson's just to name a few. And don't forget, it's bad to brush your teeth right after coffee or tea because it scrubs the enamel off.
I used to drink coffee everyday but currently I haven't had any in six months. Just tea. I'm following a strict plant based routine so that is the reason. I don't think I'll drink AS much as I did before. But I would surely enjoy a nice hot cup of Joe!
So what is right? Well I always say everything in moderation. I looked forward to my cup of Joe and I enjoyed it to the fullest. I've also been made it a habit to drink Green Tea on the daily. Currently I drink Decaf Green Tea as well as fennel, raspberry, blueberry, and chamomile. I've always heard great things about Green Tea and numerous things about coffee. My limit is two cups a day. I think there should be a limit somewhere when it comes to caffeine. That was my max. I also didn't drink any soda, and still don't, so no added caffeine there. I've turned to see what Dr. Oz had to say about Coffee and Tea. Dr Oz. is one of my favorite doctors for go-to advice when it comes to our health. He's had extensive experience and education in the medical field and his family also has a medical background. With that said, I think he's pretty credible. Our health. Our lives. Our passions. Our families. Our goals and our well being. Should these be un-important for our own self satisfaction?
We are electrified living human beings. Did you know that salt is what gives us electricity? But NOT Table salt. Natural salt like Sea Salt or Himalayan Sea Salt. Calcium Silicate is man-made by our lovely manipulators. Those who want to encourage us to eat Unnatural. Anything Unantural WILL affect us. Eventually. We need plants, sun, oxygen, nutrients, water to survive. Everything we have for a healthy life is here on this earth. Natural food and ingredients are available to us if we choose to that route.
We are influenced by the media and we can all agree to that. Many parents won't let their children watch regular TV with all the commercials and profit gaining drugs. Our media our government will advertise what they want us to hear. To put our health at risk for their own profit. I choose not to. I choose my own path. A path God has set out for me. We will be influenced by power and by manipulation. This was scripted thousands of years ago. They already knew this was going to happen. There is a plan. Stay strong.

For almost 4 months I have been on a plant based routine diet and getting coached by a celebrity trainer for a holistic healing approach to life. It really resonates with me, now more than ever before, what it is we are eating, and how it affects the natural genetics of our body. We are humans, we are part of human nature, we connect with the universe which ultimately means eating the 'universe'. lol #ForReals! Plants and herbs are grown on our earth. Everything we need to heal is provided to us; it's up to us to find it. We just need direction and the 'know' on where to look.
Knowing this, I always look at the ingredient labels now. I did before but now ANYTHING I DON'T RECOGNIZE I research. I took a picture this morning cause I made a salad and I thought I'd read my McCormick Perfect Pinch Salad Supreme dressing topper just for the hell of it.
Left Vs. Right
Via my Instagram post the right contains ingredients such as: calcium stearate, silicon dioxide, calcium silicate (added to make free flowing) omg! FD&C yellow 5 lake. Cows milk, dairy, lactose, nonfat milk solids (which adds to inflammation build up in our bodies) , citric acid, natural flavors, and unrefined herbs.
What are these spices we don't recognize ?
I went ahead and did my own research. I looked at a few websites, the sources, and decided on these. It had all the important information, and one was medically reviewed by Debra Rose Wilson who is PHD, MSN, RN, IBCLC, AHN-BC, CHT. I trust this one. I'm summarizing...
1) Silicon Dioxide = silicon (Si) and Oxygen (O2) make silicon dioxide. It's already on our earth. When we're at the beach it's silicon dioxide that gets between our toes. Its even found naturally in the tissue of our bodies. It's unclear what role it plays and it's thought to be an essential nutrient in our bodies. Or so they think? Well They don't really know.. I'll get this naturally through plants and water since that is also where it is found and also what I'm already doing. I drink over a gallon of water a day and eat plants all day so I'm covered!
2) Calcium Stearate = After reading about this on the Livestrong Website ... Too much of this can cause toxicity, stomach pain, gastrointestinal issues, and it's also found in cosmetics and plastic products. That's all I need to to say about that one. I'm convinced!
3) Calcium Silicate = Reading this website which consist of academic and education Journals and the like; Calcium Silicate absorbs 2 1/2 times its rate of water. If you add Hydrochloric Acid (HCI) it then forms a gel. That's really all I need to know but if you want to read further go to the actual site I went to. Encyclopedia.com

Just enter this into your Google search bar and see for yourself... >>>> Stopkillingmykids.com ...AKA Tetrazine, food coloring dye, banned in Norway/Austria/and some European countries, avoid it like a plague (OMG), synthetic produced from petroleum, I mean I'm just summarizing a whole page of google clickable tabs I could have chose. I didn't even have to choose one.
5) It also contains some dairy products. Cows milk, lactose, nonfat milk solids. All which are acidic proteins and add to inflammation build up in our bodies. We are alkaline living human beings. We need natural water, natural sunlight, plants, energy, electricity ( meaning Sea Salt, Himalayan Sea salt... NOT TABLE SALT**) We are naturally Alkalized human beings. Alkaline(healthy) and Acidic(unhealthy) are the two tipping points on a scale. Which side are we going to choose? Anything unnatural effects us somehow. It's not right away. It happens after years of abuse. An illness, cancer, Alzheimers, lung cancer, heart problems, depression, confusion, colon cancer, prostate, ... years of inflammation will eventually add up to something much larger then the small stuff.

So what do we learn from all this?
A lot! We learn about our health, we learn about what's important to us, what is good for us, and what will benefit us. Most importantly we are little more aware of what exactly these ingredients are. And I learned about what I need to toss in the trash! #lol #whynot
OMG Worthy enough to share!
I picked up my small bible that was in my drawer and read through the 'Where to Find Help' section in the very beginning. I chose the 'Facing A Crisis' topic and picked a verse. Not that I'm facing a crisis but I've had some difficult times so I needed something uplifting. The New Testament * Psalms Proverbs. The verse is Psalms 121....
What is the best decision to make after all? What decision will get me to where I want to be? Will l regret it? If only I knew what was right and what was wrong I can follow that and be on my way. How do I find the answers? What is right and what is wrong? I don't like not knowing, If only I knew...
Is this relationship going to end up being a waste of my time? Should I have taken that job? I wish I would have taken a certain job years ago, which I believe would have resulted in me being somewhere different then I am now. I don't regret it though. Should I have sacrificed all my extra time I put towards my job I have currently? Everyone's saying its not worth it. Those that I work with say otherwise. Should I have just gone to hair school when I wanted to after High School? What about Real Estate School? I wanted to do that too.
Not knowing what was the best route to go I took my Dad's advice and went to college, graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing, from Cal State Long Beach. I worked here in the US, I worked abroad in Australia, and now I'm working for a Union that will give me autonomy.
Time. Time I feel has been taken away from us. I'm not sure if it was the right choice for me, but I've just learned to accept where I am in life currently.
I'm 33 and it seems like when women get to this age we start to evaluate where we are in our lives relating to family and careers. And we hear that it's safer to conceive 35 years or younger (just this statistic that's been floating around). More people are mentioning it to me. Should I? Only if it's right of course. That's my answer. I'm happy and healthy. And there are no right answers to anything. But I wanted answers. I needed guidance. So that's when I came upon this book! 3O LESSONS OF LIVING: TRIED AND TRUE ADVICE FROM THE WISEST AMERICANS, By Karl Pillemer PHD. He has interviewed thousands of elderly individuals who have had successes in their marriage, failures in their marriage, child bearing advice, relationship advice, what type of partner is good for you: one that will be lasting, and more great advice. HA!
I've read this book and it's made me feel more confident in my life choices. I believe these people more then I believe any other statistic or educational study out there because these people lived it. I'm so glad I've left relationships I've had in the past because after reading their elderly advice, I saved myself some hardships. My values are important and I like to be with someone who understands them or thinks the same as me. I'll leave if not. Well by what the elderly said, it's good I did!
There are so many tips and advice out there from scientists and actual studies and surveys that I myself have turned to. Trying to find answers. Trying to see what advice based on family, relationship, and career is best for me. Still lost at 33 by what is best for me, what better advice to get from the people that have been there and done that already? Thousands of elderly were interviewed in portions such as family, marriage, working, relationships and a few other important life choices. This is great.

Hi everyone! So I deleted my original Facebook account last year and I had my account for about 15 years. It included passed friends, boyfriends, college life, my accomplishments... my life as I grew into an adult. I have recently tried editing my Facebook, cleaning out old pictures, deleting people I no longer communicate with, and it was becoming a bigger task at hand than what I thought it would be. All my pictures I posted to FB were saved to my hard drive anyway so I didn't worry about losing that. I'm not the same person I was with all these memories that I'd like to keep for myself now. It's all created me to be the person I am today.
I don't like to admit this but I was becoming too attached to my FB account. Once I turned 30 I felt like it was mid-life crisis. I think women in general start thinking about family, where they thought they would be at that point in their life, we question ourselves, we forgive ourselves, and we become stronger because of it. So now I'm almost turning 34 and my emotional roller coaster is smoothing out! =) And it's the best feeling! I'm single, I've experienced a near death accident, the change in family dynamics, several failed relationship, but I'm driven and I've accepted where I am now and what has happened because in the end it all comes together. I had lost my connection with faith because I let life get in the way. I was baptized Catholic, when I was a baby, but now I'm Christian. My relationship with God has always helped guide me. Last year I took charge of that and it's been a blessing ever since.
Facebook has become an avenue for us to brag, to share our accomplishments, to share the love we receive from others or vice versa, to share our fabulous vacations and excursions, or about our lovely parents and perfect families. Of course we don't want to share the bad things about our lives or the relationship problems or arguments we have. We want everyone to see the good side of us. FB is saturated, everyone is part of it. So as we are sharing all the great things about our lives, what about the kids, teens, adults, and people that don't have parents? That don't have a family? Or suffer from depression or another mental illness? They are reading about all these perfect and beautiful things happening to everyone else while they are thinking, "Why can't I have this?".. "How come nobody loves me like that?" "Why hasn't my career progressed?" .... I guess the point I'm trying to make is, that, I was thinking that at one point. And now that I deleted my account I felt tremendously better its amazing. And of course I want all my friends and everyone to do good and succeed! I just needed to clear out fog that was not helping my situation.
So I made the cut! I deleted my original Facebook page and created a new beginner one so I can still mange my WhyNot Page. Eventually starting fresh. So I didn't delete that! VISIT my WhyNot Page here! More postings will come.
Salmon Stuff Bell Peppers Recipe:
I always have salad handy. Leafy greens are high in magnesium which is great in preventing sore muscles, or at least speeding up the healing process. When your muscles are low in magnesium it will make them more sore after a good workout session.
As a matter of fact, that was a rumor I heard and so I went ahead and I did some research to see what it really is good for. In detail. Your muscles do benefit indeed but there are also other great things about it too. One thing too keep an eye out for when researching is the credibility of the website, or the publishers themselves. Dr Oz is one show that I used to watch often. Dr Oz himself comes from a strict educated background along with family history in the medical field. To me that’s pretty credible.
Magnesium helps maintain healthy blood pressure and alleviates constipation. It’s also a natural blood thinner and will in some cases reduce the chance of heart attack and stroke. It can also pre-reverse diabetes and a salad contains a good amount of fiber! Which is important for cleaning us out. Are you getting enough magnesium? We should be getting 100 milligrams of magnesium per day. It’s more common for the elderly population to be deficient which can lead to heart disease and osteoporosis. I’m not sure exactly how much magnesium I’m getting but I’m going to start taking that more into consideration. I try to eat a salad everyday and I don’t like boring salads. So here is my healthy recipe. #WhyNot !
Yesterday was my gym day and after about a week without squatting with a bar, and not feeling it in my legs, I crave that bar! Gotta keep my booty and legs toned. I work out to keep toned and women gain strength more then muscle. It's genetically how we are made with our hormones and testosterone levels. If you consistently lift weights, you will see greater muscle mass because you're not giving your muscles enough time to drain blood out. Therefore, muscles will appear larger then they really are. How do I know this? Because I'm studying for my Personal Training Certification. Is that my goal? No. Is it my goal to share information online? Yes. I like a mental challenge and I'm doing the online route because my schedule is hectic and that was something I learned while reading. Blood in the muscles! On your email, Twitter, or your Facebook account? or any other account? I have. Have you been emailed by a friend, family member, or co-worker informing you of a message you sent that you never sent? I also have. Do you join public WI-FI hot spots often? Sometimes I do but not much anymore.
It's scary and it's reality. Hackers are out there to obtain our information and possibly use it to earn money. Never ever sign into your mobile or computer banking apps or do anything FINANCIAL when connected to a public WI-FI hot spot. I have Norton Antivirus Software on my PC and I get newsletters informing me of security threats I need to know in order to protect myself. I used to delete these emails until I started reading them and found out how important they really are! Norton Antivirus Software also includes Norton Mobile Security, which you can download on your mobile phone and it will protect you from malicious apps. Malicious apps have been found in the Apple Itunes store and Google Play Store apps.
Does your device contain default passwords? If it does check the manufacturer website and find a way to turn it off. Once a hacker hacks into a public WI-FI spot, they are then able to access all the information on all the connected devices connected to that hot spot. That means all your default passwords are available to them! Check your manufacturers website to see how you can turn that feature off. Save yourself the time and stress.
After a quick home workout I made this quick snack. I sprinkled a little oil on a non-stick skillet and waited for it to heat up. During that time I rinsed and cut the asparagus in half. Placed it in the pan, and then sprinkled salt, pepper, and garlic powder over it. Med-low heat for about 5 mins. Turning every minute with a spoon. (whatever utensil works for you!)
As it was heating up I warmed two corn tortillas (gmo free) on the stove turning them over as not to burn one side. Once both sides were toasty and warm I sprinkled cheese and placed a piece of organic ham and turkey between the tortillas. Add whatever sauce inside you want. I added a little butter for that sweet delicious wetness.
I then placed everything on my little round plate and added a little salsa and guacamole. It was delicious! Healthy and satisfying! I still wanted to indulge a little after so I melted cheese on tortilla chips. Try anytime for a tasty snack.
Hey guys, so who wants whiter teeth without paying the high price or without having sore gums? I've tried the Crest Whitening Strips years ago and it made my gums sore, however it does work. And the professional way is a little too pricey and I like a good deal. I've always purchased the whitening toothpaste which contains baking soda. Then it hit me. It's the BAKING SODA! Baking soda!
I discovered this during my High School years and still continue with this same routine.
Here's what I do:
1. Wet my toothbrush
2. Dip it in baking soda and slightly smooth it out with your finger
3. Apply toothpaste and brush!
The great thing is you can use any toothpaste while still getting the whitening effect. I've been doing this for at least 10 years! I drink coffee everyday. Sometimes when I take a few days off I notice the difference and then just start it up again. Back to whiter teeth! For $1.99! The price for baking soda. Technically you can get it for $1 at the .99 store. I put my baking soda in a travel soap container. Its wide and easy to dip my brush in on a flat angle, and I can bring it with me when I travel. My dentist always praises me on how clean my teeth are and my hygienist said its perfectly fine to use it. It's what included in the prophy paste-polish that the hygienist puts on our teeth after they scrub them and before they use fluoride.
So what about our enamel? Does the baking soda scrub it away? These are questions we think about and here is my answer to that and what I was told by my hygienist.

It's because your back light is out! Yup... I just learned this today and I never knew this out of my 33 years of living and about 18 years of driving. I took my car to get my alignment adjusted and they told me my back break light was out. Every time I put my right blinker on it would blink super fast. Well that's good to know!! I was driving around for two weeks with my back blinker not working and not knowing why my blinker would blink so fast.
Don't you hate when people don't use their blinkers?
